14 days that will radically change your life and eternity for thousands
PRE-TRIP TIMELINE
Application
The first step is to fill out an application. There is a $100 non-refundable application fee.
Adventure Gateway
Once your application is approved you will be set up in our SOS Adventure Gateway. It will be our main means of communication. You will have a personal dashboard with checklists, training videos, and much more.
Save, Raise and Praise
We will provide you with a document that will help you save and raise funds necessary for the mission.. You will be amazed how God shows up big when you take a big step of faith.
Training Meetings
Expect 2-4 meetings to get ready for the mission. SOS will provide various training materials to help you learn the drama, how to preach, heal the sick, share your testimony and more.
Fly to Africa
You will work together with your team leader for airfare purchase. Once your immunizations are up-to-date, passport in hands and visa arranged for, you are ready for take off.
ON-TRIP TIMELINE
Boots on the ground
SOS will arrange for all ground transportation, meals and accommodations.
Sunday
Many of us will preach in various churches. Some will assist by sharing a testimony, but everyone will have a part to play. In the afternoon it’s the Festival Kick-off Party.
Monday - Tuesday
Wake up. Pray. Breakfast. Team devotional. Out the door by 9 am. The majority of us will be on busy street corners and market places. Some of us will serve at places like prison, orphanages or hospitals. We will preach, lay hands on the sick, hug, smile, dance, act, and love on those we come in contact with. Sleep by 10 pm (or so).
Wednesday - Sunday
In the mornings, we are on different street outreaches. In the afternoons, we head to our Signs and Wonders Festival. There we will dance, pray for the sick, cast out demons and support the festival in any way necessary.
FLY HOME
The majority of us have the day off on Monday. Then on Tuesday we fly home. You will be the happiest missionary in town, the most tired and suit cases full of awesome Jesus stories. It may be hard to process it all so SOS will help you reintegrate healthily.

Do you have more questions about the mission ?
-
Your passport is proof of your citizenship.
Each team member will need a passport to travel to Africa.
For US team members, you must have a passport book, not the passport card.
If you do not have a passport, or if your current passport expires within 6 months of the end of the mission, you will need to apply for a new passport.
Every country’s fees and turn-around time is different. For the USA, it’s about $170 and 1-2 months turn around.
-
Visas are an entry requirement for every nation in Africa. Costs range from $50-$150. Some countries require you to apply for a Visa before traveling and some countries you get it on-arrival. It’s important to have cash, clean and large bills for the on arrival Visa fees.
-
Many of the nations we travel to either require or strongly suggest that you receive certain immunizations or take prophylaxis medications to help ensure you remain healthy both during and after you travel. For a list of the immunizations/medications that are required &/or recommended for the country you will be traveling to, visit the CDC
website (https://wwwnc.cdc.gov/travel/destinations/list), select the nation of destination and the information will be provided.
We ask that all team members visit their personal physician or a travel clinic at least 12 weeks before departure to discuss the trip location and to develop an immunization/medication plan.
-
Team Leaders will shop for the best deal and buy airfare in a group contract. SOS works with a Travel Agency called Highpoint, but you don’t have to use them. The only requirement is that you submit your itinerary to SOS for approval before purchasing. If you are coming as an individual you can use any site on the internet. As an individual, you also submit itinerary for approval before purchasing it.
-
4 Months before the mission:
About $1,000 is due for airfare
3 Months before the Mission
About $1000 is due for airfare
2 Months before the Mission
About $500 is due for Ground Fees (incl. $100 app fee)
1 Month before the Mission
About $500 is due for Ground Fees as well as the remainder for the airfare (which might be about $500)
You can fundraise all ground fees including the $100 application fees through SOS’s Gateway. You cannot use the Gateway to fundraise for your airfare. That has to be done through your personal means or through the church you are going with.
-
Every minor (under 18 years old) must be accompanied by a legal guardian fully approved by parents and SOS. That guardian must be willing to present with minor 100% of the time while on the mission. Same team, same hotel and same schedules.
4 year olds and under only pays $100 for application fee
5-12 yrs old ground fees are $450 + $100 application fee
-
SOS will provide emergency health insurance, medical assistance, evacuation and safety during the sudden occurrence of a political or military event through Generali Global Assistance.

“EVERY SHORT-TERM MISSION IS A PLATFORM FOR LONG-TERM MISSIONS”
It’s the heart of Jesus that we live on-mission in whatever context we find ourselves. After you return, you may feel a great urge to get involved in missions. We highly encourage you to serve the mission vision of your church! Also, you may want to reconsider your giving, praying and going commitment.
Should you feel a call from God for long-term missions or want to receive further training you can join our 10-month Harvest internship, or our Mission Bible School in Kenya or Sweden.
